Celtic Music - Ode to the Fallen

He pulled himself up on the ledge, grateful for the dry bit of land the cave gave to him,
the arrows piercing his chest.
His ship was burning, sinking, and he could hope for no rescue now.

But he accepted his pain, his fate, content with his life and all he had been.
He thought of his beloved, how he would finally be able to see her.
Taken in her youth, he had sworn to protect everyone like her, and all others.

As he lay there, a small glimmer of light appeared.
It was the Light Fairy that had tried to save his life.

She was glowing so faint, yet her light still flowed along the dark waves.
Her wings gently folded as she came to a rest on his outstretched hand.
He smiled down at his little companion, the pain numbing with his fading world.
She curled into a ball, her light slowly going out.

He rested his head against a rock, a tear streaming down his face.
He would see his beloved again, safe and at peace where he left her.
The fairy closed her eyes, moving no more, but her light lingered, bathing him in warmth.

His blood ceased to flow, his ship sunk completely, and he at last closed his own eyes.

Her face replaced the glowing waves, more beautiful, his moon and star, her voice replacing the sound of the ocean, happiness in its purest form.

He had served well, and it was well worth it at the end...
