Dave Mustaine on lihava, autistinen juoppo. Biisit kyhätään häthätää yksinkertaistakin yksinkertaisemman sointukuvion ympärille (Dave hädintuskin osaa kitaransoiton alkeet) ja sanoituksiksi keksittään tissuttelun ohessa muutama mukahauska ja mukanäppärä sanaleikki tai letkautus. Suosiota tuskin olisi tullut ellei Mustaine ympärillä olisi jatkuvasti lauma kompetentteja muusikoita korjaamassa kappaleet levytettävään kuntoon. Viinaa kului mutta Mustainen ainoa tapa käsitellä asiaa on vääntää vitsiä ylenmääräisestä ryyppäämisestään sillä hän ei yksinkertaisesti pysty myöntämään omaavansa ongelmia elämäntapojensa suhteen. Loppujen lopuksi tämän "Metallimaailman suurimman rocklyyrikon" ainut ansio lienee se, miten monta laulua ryyppäämisestä hän pystyykään kirjoittamaan.
